Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Even though the weather in Berlin is currently sending other signals, it is that time of the year again: we are taking a break for the summer and will be back in September with the next issue of the Energiewende newsletter, by which point the German government will hopefully have a climate strategy. Currently, the discussion about the establishment of a CO2 tax continues to heat up. Last week, the German Council of Economic Experts, an independent academic body advising German policymakers on questions of economic policy, presented its special report « Setting Out for a New Climate Policy » to the German government, in which they support the carbon tax.
